WELCOME BACK! It's so nice to have you back on campus and online, back in school! I have missed all of you very much and can't wait to have another wacky year with you!
I can't promise to put much on this website, but I hope to communicate through Parent Square.

We will begin Recorders next week, so all 4th graders that did not order a new one will need to remember to bring their recorder from home for their respective music class. 4th grade music schedule is as follows:
Monday: Copeland, Adams
Tuesday: Scaff
Wednesday: Landry, Hubbert
Friday: McLeroy
Students are given 2 "grace" days where it will not count against them. After these two days it will count twenty points off of their participation grade for the day. This goes along with our Pride creed of being prepared for class, and music is a participation class. How can you participate fully if you do not have your own materials? Thank you for understanding and helping our students become more responsible.

I am still waiting on recorder orders to come in. There are many in 4th grade that haven't taken care of this and I want to wait until I have most of them.
We have started working on songs for a program in December for Literacy Night. Please make plans now to attend! December 4th, 5:30 at ACW gymnasium. We are singing some songs that I am sure you have never heard, so come on out!

Recorder order forms have been sent home. Please fill them out and return by Sept. 14th!
4th graders are learning about the shape of melody, called contour. Contour refers to how the melody moves upward, downward and/or stays the same.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page!
All 4th graders will beging learning the recorder in the second semester. Be on the lookout for forms to come home next week regarding the purchase of the recorder. If your child has one from an older sibling, or another school, they do not have to purchase a new one. They do still need the book, so if they do not have one, they need to purchase a book. This is a requirement of music in 4th and 5th grade. Thank you!
This week we are learning about meter. Meter is the two numbers that we see at the beginning of a piece of music that show us how many beats are in a measure and what kind of note a beat gets.
